It’s a very beautifully written play, though, curiously, it lacks many memorable characters. You can tell, for that reason, that it was written earlier in Shakespeare’s play. Still, I enjoy this play and would recommend it to anyone wanting to read more Shakespeare. The play’s sequel, 1 Henry IV, reaches incredible heights, but this play does a good job of setting the scene and warming us up. ( Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2021 )

This is the 1st time I have a complaint to make. The acting in this audio recording of the play was so very wooden (sounded like teenagers just mechanically reading from the text) that I didn't even get through the 1st act; I just put it back in the box and gave up on it. The money I spent on what I bought from you this time was wasted. I have bought many other audio books from you (I never drive without listening to one) including plays (Julius Caesar and MacBeth); however, this is the 1st time that the reading was bad - and this time it was VERY bad. Before reading this, I found Shakespeare's work to be rather overrated and wishy-washy, but now I have fallen in love with his writing. This is by far his best play (in my opinion) and I have enjoyed every second of it. Would very much recommend watching The Hollow Crown along side it to help guide you through the text.
